The AI world is consistently evolving, with new tools, new applications, fears, and opportunities emerging all over the world.

If you are an entrepreneur, an employee, or just an AI enthusiast looking to learn as much as possible, it can become overwhelming sooner or later for you.

Here are 5 tips to get it together and swim calmly in the whirlpool of the information era

1. Use AI with intention

Your thoughts determine your reality. And intention is the direction you give to your thoughts in the present moment.

For example, rather than reading books aimlessly or because they are interesting, one might ask: What do I want this book to bring to my life? What current problem can it solve for me?

The same goes for AI; why do you watch a video on AI? Is it because the title is catchy and might serve you one day?

No, such videos are infinite on the net. When your intention does not come from you, you will be driven by the intentions of others. So ask yourself more deeply if it solves an urgent problem for you. Of all the AI content you could consume, are you sure it’s one of the most important at this precise moment in your life?

Your detailed response is the intention that guides your research. It’s also an excellent way to avoid mindless scrolling.

2. Practice Mindful Consumption

Whether it’s TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, threads, or any other major platforms, they all release dopamine. That’s how users continue to derive pleasure from using them. But let’s narrow it down a bit. A captivating video, book, article, seminar, or speech are examples of individual dopamine release. This leads to the infamous mindless scrolling on the internet. Being aware of your intentions will help, but that’s not all.

You must be conscious of the time you spend consuming AI content. Prioritize quality over quantity, and take breaks to reflect on what you’ve learned and how it applies to your work or personal projects. Remember, “resting is part of working well, and meditating is part of learning well.”

3. Stay Focused on Your Field

AI is like being in your favorite supermarket; there are many interesting things, and the ‘shiny object syndrome’ is very much present in such a technology with many variations. Do you get my point?

You need to set learning objectives according to your field. This will help you focus on acquiring skills and knowledge that are directly applicable to your needs. Society has evolved to understand that rather than trying to be the best lawyer, doctor, athlete, engineer all at the same time, it’s best to focus on one or two fields. As the saying goes, if you try to be an expert in everything, you will end up being an expert in nothing. That’s harsh, but ignore the AI outside your field and choose one or two AI fields to become an EXPERT in.

For one of my colleagues, it’s AI and the fashion industry; for me, it’s AI and digital marketing, but also AI and enterprise management. What’s yours?

By the way, as more and more people embark on this AI journey, don’t just learn to be average, strive to stand out. Also, AI itself replace already the low and average AI knowledge, increase your own value on the marketplace by becoming an expert.

4. Know Your Main Sources of Information

Imagine a school where every day you have a new teacher. At first, that might be exciting, but if it keeps going, your mind will get tired of consistently looking for a new one, adapting, and deciding if they’re the right fit for you. Yes, you can seek information from as many sources as you want, but it’s necessary to identify a small handful that resonates the most with you and that you trust fully. This will make your journey less overwhelming and LIGHTER. You must know your main five favorite AI sources of information and stay consistent with them.

5. Apply Step by Step

AI is not just a bunch of theory; it’s something that you must use. If you only gather information on something practical and don’t experience its application, the overwhelming feeling will just keep growing. This point is an unavoidable step and my last one.

Now you are better prepared to face the consistent change of the AI industry.
